Xena travels to the cave where she left Gabrielle watching Ikus only to discover that, having eaten the drugged nutbread, Gabrielle is completely out of it and Ikus is nowhere to be seen. Meanwhile, back at the house, Ikus is told by his mother to run away but it's too late as Mael appears and takes Ikus to be sacrificed. Xena also sees Anteus being mentally tortured by the voice of the supposed "supreme deity". |

Having saved Ikus from sacrifice, Xena tries to help Anteus having been convinced that he's been drugged using nutbread and the voices he's hearing aren't real. Upon returning back to the house, Mael turns up and takes Ikus and Anteus to perform the sacrifice and to make sure they don't interfere, Xena and Gabrielle are thrown down a well in the garden. |

Ikus is taken to the altar to be sacrificed and the booming voice of the supreme deity eggs Anteus on to murder his son. However it turns out that the voice is actually Mael. Xena and Gabrielle get out of the well in time to stop Mael, who falls to his death, but will they be in time to stop Anteus killing his son. |
