Xena and Gabrielle reach a small village and separate for a while. Gabrielle heads to the local tavern where she orders several courses of food, but her gourmet feast is cut short when the villagters, convinced she is a witch, attempt to torch the place. Gabrielle escapes, pursued by Xena and learns from the woodland banshees that she is pregnant.

The party get some rest that evening but things take a sinister turn when one of the soldiers ends up dead. Xena immediately blames baby Hope and is about to kill the child when Gabrielle awakens and flees the castle with Hope. The banshees try to stop Xena, but it's not long before the Warrior Princess is in hot pursuit of her friend.
